Less than 48 hours to his installation, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, today screened and confirmed Alhaji Dr. Shehu Usman Chindo Yamusa (III) as the Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi.

The Visitor of the University and Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-almakura had on Tuesday 2, 2017, dispatched a letter to the State House of Assembly nominating the Emir for the position.

The letter sought express treatment in view of the coming Convocation this Saturday, where the Chancellor will be presiding.

The position of the Chancellor became vacant since the demise of the last occupant and late Emir of Keffi, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Chindo Yamusa (II) who passed on, on the 5th of December, 2015.

Although the new Emir has not been formally inaugurated as the Chancellor, he has since been playing a central and substantial role as he is pivotal in brokering Linkages between NSUK and many foreign countries and institutions.

The Emir, himself a former staff of the University, is expected to continue in his ambassadorial role by attracting more investments and cooperation to the University.

He clearly emphasised on this responsibility during his screening when he promised not to disappoint the members of the Assembly and the entire people of the state.

He assured of his contribution in elevating the institution to a world class University of quality academic research and community service.

With his confirmation by the state Assembly and the coming installation on Friday, the Chancellor as the Chairman of the Convocation will preside over the Saturday ceremony along side other principal officers and faculty members.

Meanwhile, Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura has commended the Emir for his effort towards the development of Nasarawa State University, maintaining that as Chancellor of the University he has no doubt that the Royal Father would do more to increase the fortunes of the State University.

The Governor stated this while receiving the Emir in his office, who came to show appreciation for his nomination as NSUK Chancellor.

Emir Chindo thanked the Governor for considering him for the appointment while commending the giant strides of the Governor in Nasarawa State.
