Nasarawa State University Library has extended its closing hour to 9pm in order to create more reading time for students ahead of their first semester examination, this development was made known when Faculty Presidents attended a meeting yesterday organised by the Library Coordinator Mallam Nurudeen Mua'zu Maifatah.

The meeting which had in attendance the President of Faculty of Social Sciences Student Association (FOSSSA) Comrade Aliyu Tala Safiyanu, his Faculty of Administration and Faculty of Law counterparts, Comrade Sadiq Abdulrazaq and Bewo B Sani was geared at reviving reading habits in students and bridging the gap between students and the library.

The Library Coordinator in his remark said; "Next month examinations would begin, the library would be extending its closing hour to 9pm so students who want to use the library could have more reading time".

He also urged students to patronise the library, noting that the university library is the cornerstone and bedrock of the institution. The Library Coordinator bemoaned the high rate at which students resort to searching the internet for informations instead of visiting the library, citing that some internet searches are not totally correct.

He further charged students not to forget their primary aim in this school; which is to graduate with good grades and that can only be achieved when they make the library their companion. He added that; "In previous years we had book donations from students but in recent times we have not had any book donation from students".

In a separate development, the Faculty Presidents appealed to the Dean of Students Affairs to look into the issue of inconclusive election that marred the electoral process in some faculties last semester.

The Dean in his response stated that talks are in progress with the affected faculties to address the issue.
