Faculty Presidents Visit DVC, Seek Mgt. Intervention on Multiple Charges From Departments, Faculties

The Forum of Faculty Presidents, Nasarawa State University has appealed to management of institution to quickly intervene and stop any further duplicated charges on students. 

This appeal was made when the group visited the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the institution, Dr. Mrs. Grace Rinret Pennap,  in her office in Keffi. 

The group who had Talatu Sufiyanu Aliyu of the Faculty of Social Sciences Students Association (FOSSSA), his Faculty of Administration counterpart, Comrade Sadiq Abdulrazaq Abubakar, FOSSSA Secretary Comrade Lawal Danmusa and the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee Chairman, Nasarawa Axis, Comrade Ibrahim Thaddeus Maiyanga, in attendance, told the DVC that despite the warning from the Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Mainoma, some departments and faculties have gone ahead to impose extra fees ranging between N1000 to as much as N30,000 on students.

The group decried the motive behind the multiple charges, describing it as insensitive to the plights of students at a time the society is faced with severe economic hardship. 

The DVC in her response assured group of management's readiness to ensure that no student is surcharged under any guise, promising to intimate the Vice Chancellor immediately for action. 

"As a matter of urgency the school management will look keenly into this issues of multiple charges", she said. 

She implored the students not to take to illegalities in trying to settle problems, but to always seek dialogue as a means of resolving issues. 

She mandated the students to take the opportunity offered by the lift on the ban placed on the activities of the Students Union Government to engage management in harmonious relationship that will further bring development to the University.
