ASUU Finally Suspends Over 1 Week Old Strike.

*Academics activities to commence full after Sallah break.
The Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, Nasarawa State University on Thursday, 30th June, 2016 suspended its over 1 week old strike which it embarked upon after supending its 3months old total and indefinite strike over unpaid salaries.

Following a meeting held by the Government of Nasarawa State, with Management of Nasarawa State University and ASUU leadership on Saturday 25th June 2016, where an understanding between the two parties was met and an agreement was reached, it was confirm that government had agreed to pay the outstanding salaries of the March and April 2016 to the striking lecturers.

The ASUU chairman, Theophilus Lagi, said the union resolved to suspend the strike with immediate effect after a congress meeting held today by the ASUU. This is coming after striking lecturers received their two months salaries as promised by the state government.

It can be recalled that the Union after its congress meeting held on Monday 27th June 2016, resolved that they will only suspend the strike on the condition that they receive payment alert of their March & April salaries as promised by the state government.

However, with Sallah around the coroner, there are indications that academic activities will commence fully after the Sallah break, therefore if you are outside keffi already, we advice you relax till after Sallah break before fully resuming.
